Victoria Dittmar, investigadora InSight Crime, afirm\u00f3 que el gusano barrenador, un animal que se alimenta del tejido vivo del ganado<\/strong>, causando graves infecciones que pueden llevar a la muerte, ya se encuentra en M\u00e9xico<\/strong>, pues hace unos d\u00edas se detect\u00f3 un animal que presentaba las caracter\u00edsticas de esta plaga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSe registra hace unos d\u00edas que en la caseta de Catazaj\u00e1, en Chiapas, las autoridades registran un animal que presenta las caracter\u00edsticas de esta plaga, pero digamos las advertencias ven\u00edan ya desde antes, empez\u00f3 me parece que en Costa Rica<\/strong>, Nicaragua y se fue esparciendo hasta el norte\u201d, inform\u00f3 en Aristegui En Vivo.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alert\u00f3 que esta plaga no se est\u00e1 esparciendo espec\u00edficamente por el comercio legal, pero s\u00ed por el contrabando ilegal y que es tan grave que Estados Unidos par\u00f3 de manera temporal la importaci\u00f3n de ganado<\/strong> a pie que viene de M\u00e9xico, mientras que M\u00e9xico est\u00e1 tomando acciones para parar las deportaciones legales de Guatemala a nuestro pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El m\u00e9dico veterinario Luis Fernando Guerra, Coordinador Regional del Programa de Salud de WCS Mesoam\u00e9rica & Western Caribbean, ya hab\u00eda alertado el 15 de octubre en Aristegui En Vivo<\/em> que la enfermedad comenz\u00f3 en Panam\u00e1 hace m\u00e1s de un a\u00f1o, pero hab\u00eda comenzado a subir hacia Honduras. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adem\u00e1s, explic\u00f3 que el gusano barrenador es una l<\/strong>arva que es colocada por moscas en las heridas de animales,<\/strong> la cual comienza a comerse la laceraci\u00f3n, por lo que puede causar infecciones e incluso la muerte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Este 25 de noviembre, Victoria Dittmar destac\u00f3 que la respuesta de las autoridades ha sido para el comercio legal<\/strong>, sin embargo, el comercio ilegal<\/strong> representa el 10% de la venta anual de ganado en M\u00e9xico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Destac\u00f3 que en el 2022 realiz\u00f3 una investigaci\u00f3n en la que reportaron que el Servicio Nacional de Sanidad, Inocuidad y Calidad Agroalimentaria (SENASICA) hablaba de que al a\u00f1o ingresaban 800 mil cabezas de ganado de manera ilegal.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSi suponemos que estas 800 mil cabezas de ganado se procesan y digamos, se blanquean, e ingresan a la cadena de suministro legal, estamos hablando del 10 por ciento de la producci\u00f3n anual en M\u00e9xico de ganado\u201d, asever\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adem\u00e1s, sostuvo que M\u00e9xico es el principal socio ganadero de Estados Unidos, por lo que hay una demanda que debe cumplir.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLo que encontramos en esta investigaci\u00f3n, en donde visitamos varios centros de producci\u00f3n de ganado en la frontera ente M\u00e9xico y Guatemala, pero tambi\u00e9n fuimos a Centroam\u00e9rica, a Nicaragua, Honduras y Guatemala, muchos ganaderos para entrar a este negocio, para poder competir con grandes productores, dependen de este contrabando ilegal<\/strong>\u201d, agreg\u00f3<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recomendaciones para frenar la propagaci\u00f3n del gusano barrenador<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Victoria Dittmar dijo que, ante la entrada del gusano barrenador a M\u00e9xico, se debe hacer una intervenci\u00f3n de las autoridades en las rutas clave por donde se mueve el ganado.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHay rutas muy clave por las que se mueve este ganado, por ejemplo en M\u00e9xico, cruces como el de Benem\u00e9rito de las Am\u00e9ricas en Chiapas era una de las principales entradas de este ganado y hay cuellos de botella en esta ruta, por ejemplo encontramos que precisamente Catazaj\u00e1, que fue donde se encontr\u00f3 este primer caso<\/strong> de gusano barrenador es la \u00fanica ruta que pueden llegar estas reces al resto del pa\u00eds<\/strong>\u201d, apunt\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sostuvo que cuando el ganado llega a esa zona ya est\u00e1 \u201cblanqueado\u201d, es decir, ya cuentan con un arete y con documentaci\u00f3n adquirida por redes corruptas<\/strong> para pasar de forma legal las revisiones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agreg\u00f3 que a mediano plazo se puede hacer una intervenci\u00f3n en esta zona y en el largo plazo se puede facilitar a los ganadores acceder a ganado legal a precios m\u00e1s competitivos,<\/strong> que se pueda hacer investigaciones internas en las organizaciones ganadoras o armonizaciones para identificar la corrupci\u00f3n que permite que este ganado ilegal termine en manos de compradores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
